What We’re Looking For

WC+A is looking for a  Production Designer Intern . This intern will have basic knowledge of creative software applications such as Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop. Ideally, they will also understand what makes a campaign: adapting art to different formats, typesetting, and organizing assets for delivery. 

You don’t know how to do everything just yet, no worries! We want to mentor and train you through your journey with us. We want you to ask questions, learn from mistakes, and strive to improve daily. How else is one supposed to improve their knowledge and skills? Good communication skills make the best interns.

This role will report directly to the VP, Production leading this group. This internship will be a hybrid model working out of Culver City and will last 8 weeks with a possibility of an extension or a full-time position. We aim to start this internship at the beginning of July, but we will accommodate an earlier or later start date.

We are looking for entry-level candidates with a strong desire and passion to learn more about production design and the entertainment industry. No prior experience is necessary, but a portfolio displaying your skillset(s) is required.    

How You’ll Contribute 

  • Assist team in producing digital assets for on-service or marketing requests (including retouching or image compression across multiple platforms)
  • Learn from Production Managers and Production Designers on proper workflow processes and design elements
  • Review requests/tasks, navigate complex templates/specifications of a project, and ask questions
  • Localize assets for global projects
  • Build hands-on adaptive design
  • Maintain the integrity of a project’s strategy and design during production
  • Update assets accurately and review your work before sending it to quality assurance
  • Correct all inconsistencies and mistakes in art files before release, including typesetting revisions, scaling artwork, photo retouching, correcting vector artwork, color corrections/adjustments, and page sequence/imposition revisions
  • Help prep, proof, and provide final signed-off assets, ensuring quality, accuracy, and consistency
  • Catalog and organize project files (working and final) for future reference and retrieval
  • Be mindful that all projects are complete within identified timelines
  • Other duties as assigned

Who You Are 

  • A basic understanding of Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat (short-cuts key commands are a plus)
  • A basic understanding of Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, Slides, etc.) 
  • A strong portfolio displaying your design skills
  • Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills
  • Multilingual is a plus
  • Ability to be mentored and growth mindset
  • Aptitude with managing different projects in parallel
  • Great follow-through and organizational skills
  • Great communication skills
  • Great attention to detail
  • Ability to approach a problem from multiple viewpoints
  • Ability to work through problems with a team that values collaboration and feedback 
  • Ability to think beyond the task at hand and identify blockers and improvements

Compensation Expectations:

The starting base compensation range for this position in the selected city is $25/hour. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s certifications, location, prior experience, and qualifications.
